Summer Temporary Positions for Treatment Assistants at SiS Youth Home Ljungbacken
The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with addiction. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with addiction across the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. No matter where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformations.
SiS Youth Home Ljungbacken accommodates boys aged 16 to 20 years. The institution is located in Uddevalla.
Job Description:
SiS Youth Home Ljungbacken is now seeking treatment assistants for summer temporary positions. When you work as a treatment assistant with us, you and your colleagues from various professional backgrounds are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. You will work with care and motivational efforts and provide support in daily life. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our youth and form the foundation of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. In this role, you are also expected to be physically active and participate in health-promoting activities. Documentation is an important part of your work. The tasks may involve heavy lifting, and you need to work with a high level of risk and safety awareness. This is a job for you who can remain steadfast and create safety and security in the often very difficult life situations of the youth.
SiS offers summer temporary positions for full-time client-facing work with a holiday bonus. The bonus is granted after four completed weeks and is subsequently paid for each full week worked during the institution's holiday period at 2500 SEK/week.
Qualifications:
Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformations. We are looking for someone with a positive view of people and a drive to work with youth. As a person, you relate to others in a responsive and flexible manner while being able to set boundaries and adhere to decisions made. You collaborate well with your colleagues and are secure, stable, and able to maintain a professional approach. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations.
You should also have:
- Completed and approved upper secondary education
- Experience in youth-related work or work with people in vulnerable life situations, for example from psychiatry, HVB operations, or from care and nursing
- Very good Swedish language skills in both speech and writing
- A valid driver's license (B) is an advantage
According to the new Social Services Ordinance (2025:468), those working with care and treatment for young people must also have at least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational school or other post-secondary education equivalent to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area. Exceptions to the requirement for at least a 2-year post-secondary education can be made in individual cases. In this case, a completed upper secondary education is sufficient, which means passing grades in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, mathematics 1, English 5, and the gymnasium project work. If your education was not completed in Sweden, it must be validated by the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR).
Employment:
Working hours are according to a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends, or alternatively awake night shifts on weekdays and weekends. The positions are temporary full-time contracts with the possibility of hourly work both before and after the holiday period. We use a staffing system where you as a temporary employee register your availability for shifts. Selection and interviews may occur continuously.
As a state employee, you have many benefits; read about them here: Benefits for state employees - SiS - Swedish National Board of Institutional Care (https://www.sis.se/for-mig-som-arbetar-hos-sis/formaner-som-statligt-anstalld/)
To assess your application correctly, you need to attach relevant educational documents.
As a summer temporary employee, you will undergo a tailored introductory training of three days. This introductory training is mandatory for working with us.
